Northern Lights, having friends, and being grateful

I saw the Northern Lights for the first time the other night. Yes, I've lived in Alaska for 2 1/2 years, but I'd never seen the Northern Lights before this week. It's kinda weird, I admit. But I finally saw them, and they are spectacular.

And why I got to see them? A friend called and said, "There are Northern Lights! If you drive now, you might see them!" And that phone call? Was as special as seeing the lights, because it meant someone was thinking of me.

I'm very happy for the new opportunities, for sudden decisions, and for open doors. Life really can be a glorious and grand adventure (even if it doesn't always feel that way).

Home again, home again, jiggety-jig

I am so grateful that we got to go to California and see family, but I'm also incredibly grateful to be back in my own home, where I can snuggle with my kitty all night long because she missed me, too.

the good news is

,,,is that I somehow did not get one of these this year, even though the deadline was two weeks ago.

... I had time this afternoon to get my tires changed.

baby news

I'm so very happy the baby arrived safely.

I'm glad my afternoon appointment cancelled on me, which leaves me free to make a visit to the hospital to see a day-old baby and her parents.

All this AND I get to go to yoga tonight

My husband sent me flowers.
My boss brought me chocolate macaroons that he made.
A friend sent me a sweet email.

I'm grateful for...

Winter is Over

I am so grateful that the nights are warming up, as is the soil, and it seems that Texas will have a spring and summer this year. Hooray! It's gardening outside season again!

it's a sunny day

I'm grateful for my friends, who love me even when I'm being weird. Or maybe because of it.

The sun has been shining. I'm actually getting headaches from all the sun, but I'll take the headaches for the mood elevator that sun is for me. Headaches don't seem so bad as not having sun.

I'm happy this week was spring break. The weather was most definitely NOT springlike, but the opportunity to sleep in and enjoy myself was much appreciated.

Some days, a little spark of hope is enough

I did something last night. Something hopeful. Something impulsive. Something unusual, at least for me.

I bought a domain name. And I own it for the next five years.

It's the name of my pseudonym. The name that I decided to use if I ever write a novel. If I ever submit a novel. If I ever publish a novel.

I don't know if I'll successfully finish writing a novel. Much less submit it or get it published. But I do know, that by buying the domain name of my carefully chosen pseudonym, I bought a little bit of hope. I bought a little bit of a dream.

And some days, hopes and dreams are more than enough.

I'm glad I have a trip to look forward to. A trip where I'll get to see friends and celebrate my birthday, as well as interview for a new job.

I'm glad he's my friend. Having him in my life makes my life just a little bit better.
