Bilingual Kids
Today I subbed in the Bilingual School that I have taught at before. It has Mexican immigrant kids who still don't speak English well, and African children from Capetown, Somalia, and other parts African. They speak a variety of languages. A sweet little Somalian girl and I had met before and she said, "Hi!" to me today. I asked her if she spoke Swahili, and then said my only Swahili word, learned from Miriam Makeba songs, "Jambo sana!" She looked at me and said, "Jambo! Yo hablo Espanol." I'm grateful for sweet little African girls.

Hey jfh -- thanks for joining the blog.
And thanks for the story.
What does "jambo sana" mean? (Babelfish doesn't do Swahili.)
